Tottenham Hotspur: Ex-Spurs defender Graham Roberts urges club to re-sign Christian Eriksen after Inter fall-out

Writing on Twitter, ex-Lilywhites, Rangers, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion defender Graham Roberts has urged Tottenham Hotspur to re-sign playmaker Christian Eriksen after his fall out of favour at Inter Milan – going on to claim that Jose Mourinho ‘really likes him’

Eriksen departed north London for the San Siro last January in a deal worth a reported £16.9 million, but he has found life difficult in Serie A, starting a meagre eight games and making the vast majority of his appearances for the Nerazzurri from the substitute’s bench (WhoScored).

The Denmark international, who has amassed nearly a century of caps for his country (95), enjoyed a stellar career at Tottenham before making the move abroad – making 226 league appearances for the club whilst netting 51 goals and assisting 66 others (Transfermarkt).

Despite his showings in England, however, Inter boss Antonio Conte allegedly may not see Eriksen as part of his future plans with an abundance of central midfielders ahead in the pecking order.

Indeed, Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport claimed recently that the club could wish to sell him off this summer, apparently ‘offering’ the 28-year-old to England for any prospective buyers.

The £100,000-per-week star, at least according to this report, may well have a route back to the Premier League – but Inter would reportedly demand around £45.4 million for his services.

Regardless, ex-player Roberts has urged chairman Daniel Levy and co to snap up the creative outlet at any cost, claiming that he would take Eriksen back at Spurs ‘all day long‘.

Ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino has also made no secret of his admiration for Eriksen, describing him as ‘fantastic‘.

Even though it’s unlikely Levy will fork out such a huge sum, this move would arguably excite plenty of supporters.
