Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter aren’t buying the rumours that the club have identified Leicester City’s James Maddison as a possible transfer target.

According to Duncan Castles, who was speaking on The Transfer Window podcast and relayed by Ricky Sacks, Spurs are believed to be interested in signing the playmaker as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.
Maddison, who appears to have caused some off-the-field controversy regarding his England international future, is believed to be the prime candidate to replace the Scandanavian.
Valued at £40.5m by TransferMarkt, the 22-year-old has been in excellent form for Leicester this season as he has scored three goals and provided two assists in his eight matches across all competitions so far.
Indeed, his creativity could add an extra dimension to Mauricio Pochettino’s side as he has managed to average three shots per game, 1.6 key passes and 3.3 completed dribbles in every fixture, per WhoScored.
Whilst Castles admitted he could not see Tottenham “can turn this [deal] into a reality”, it appears as though fans on the social media network are not buying into what Castles has been saying regarding the links regarding Maddison, with many of them stating that it would never happen because of various reasons.
Some echoed the idea that he would be simply too expensive for Daniel Levy to put his hand in his pocket for, others just felt it was too late to strike a deal for the creative midfielder in the first place, whilst a few even stated that he “hated” Spurs.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Would love the toddler but it ain’t happening. We should have bought him while he was at Norwich
