Tottenham Hotspur: Fans buzz over Victor Osimhen’s transfer update

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a bid for Victor Osimhen, according to @le10sport via @TranSPURS

The French outlet claims Tottenham have offered far less than previously suggested, adding Lille received an offer that is below the reported fee of £75m.

Ever since he arrived at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy from RSC Charleroi for £10.8m, Osimhen has made a rapid start to his time in Ligue 1, scoring 13 goals and creating 4 assists in his first season for the Mastiffs. The Nigerian has impressed in the French top flight, taking 3.2 shots per game, and making 0.8 key passes on average. He also scored against Spurs’ Premier League rivals Chelsea in the Champions League (WhoScored).

The 21-year-old has already earned himself eight caps for the Super Eagles, bagging four goals so far (Transfermarkt). His impressive performances at the top of the pitch have caught the eye of a number of European giants, including Frank Lampard’s Blues, but it appears Jose Mourinho has upstaged his former player in the race to sign the talented striker in the summer.

Football journalist Ricky Sacks also shared the report on Twitter, tweeting “Tottenham Hotspur have made an official bid to Lille for striker Victor Osimhen. Spurs Assistant Head Coach João Sacramento is aware of the forward’s abilities having worked with the player, during their time together at Lille before joining Mourinho.”

Mourinho is scouting the market to find a backup striker to alleviate the goalscoring burden on talisman Harry Kane, and backroom staff believe the youngster is fit for purpose.

As expected, a whole number of the Lilywhites faithful buzzed over Osimhen’s transfer update on social media, with one fan dubbing the forward “world class,” and another adding the news is “awesome.”
