Tottenham’s chase for the Premier League top four suffered another setback after losing to Liverpool on home soil. Alarmingly, they’ve now gone four games without a win since defeating Brighton on Boxing Day under Jose Mourinho.
Obviously, Spurs are now nine points adrift of the Champions League places after their latest defeat, and have massive games against Manchester City and Chelsea on the horizon in February. So far, they’ve lost every game to elite opposition under their new boss.
They’ve also got an injury crisis mounting, with both Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko expected to be out until April. With that in mind, January could prove to be a crucial month for the club as they look to reinforce the squad ahead of a big few months. So far, it looks as if Mourinho’s arrival has done little to turn their fortunes around. While they are now in the top half, hopes of a return to the top end of the league remain slim given the current gap and their recent run of form.

Martin Tyler said something like “when Klopp had is first game against spurs in 2015 Liverpool have one player who played that game on the pitch – spurs have 8. They have gone through transition, we haven’t” never a truer word spoken. Levy time is now.
