Tottenham Hotspur: Fans not happy after report suggests duo are too expensive for club to sign

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake are considered too expensive for Tottenham Hotspur to sign in the January transfer window, that is according to a report from the Evening Standard.

Spurs have been linked with both players recently, with 90 min reporting in November that Jose Mourinho wanted Fernandes whilst The Telegraph have suggested that the club like Ake.

However, according to the Standard, the north London club won’t be signing either as they are likely to be too costly in this window.

Both players would surely have been strong additions. Indeed Fernandes has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists this season (Transfermarkt) whilst Ake has become a seasoned Premier League defender who has made 107 appearances for Bournemouth (Transfermarkt).

But it comes as no surprise that Spurs are unlikely to spend big bucks on the two players, considering that in the 2018/19 season the club didn’t buy a single player (Transfermarkt).

Naturally, most Tottenham fans are furious that the club deem these players too expensive to sign, with many taking aim at owner Daniel Levy on Twitter.

Here is what some had to say…
