The Football Association have officially charged Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli with misconduct following a social media post about the coronavirus (BBC Sport).
On his personal Snapchat account, the 23-year-old shared a video of himself wearing a face mask along with a caption which read: “Corona whattt, please listen with volume,” (Evening Standard).
The camera then panned over to a man of Asian appearance before showing a bottle of antiseptic hand wash, with a new caption then showing which read: “This virus gunna have to be quicker than that to catch me.”
Alli quickly deleted the post, before sharing another video on a Chinese social media platform in which he apologised for his actions (BBC Sport). He has until Thursday 5th March to respond to the charge.
Loads of Spurs fans have been reacting to the news, with many worried that the England international could now face a ban which would deplete their squad further with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane already missing through injury.

As I understand it, he sent it privately to a “mate” (prob ex-mate now) who then leaked it. He didn’t publicly tweet it etc
I’m not excusing what he did but how does a leaked private comment/poor taste joke bring the game into disrepute?
