Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur were the only club that he agreed to speak to last summer, that is according to a report from Portuguese outlet Record.

He has also admitted that Spurs were the club that wanted to sign him the most and that he was excited by what the north London side were offering.
Speaking to Record about what happened in the summer transfer window, Fernandes said: “It [Tottenham] was the team that wanted me the most and was the only one I agreed to talk with, because there were other clubs that didn’t interest me or whose project was not up to my expectations.”
‘Tottenham fit into everything I wish I had at that moment.”
Unfortunately for the Portugal international, a deal did not go through as Sporting Lisbon decided that they would not allow him to leave.
In fairness to him, he seemingly hasn’t let that affect his performances, as he has once again been outstanding this term. Indeed he has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists from midfield in just 23 appearances all competitions this season (Transfermarkt).
Plenty of Spurs fans have been reacting to the 25-year-old’s admission that he was keen to join, with many urging the club to go out and sign him in the current transfer window.
