According to a report by The Daily Mail, the Colombian defender suffered an ankle injury whilst on international duty with the South American nation and is now thought to be a doubt for their London derby with Crystal Palace at the weekend.
The 23-year-old was used as a right-back in their previous fixture against fierce rivals Arsenal as Mauricio Pochettino’s options in the position have been severely depleted recently.
Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth have both had to spend time on the sidelines with their own injuries, although the former could make a return, whilst Serge Aurier appears to be out of favour under the Argentine manager.
However, Sanchez appeared to struggle in the right-back slot, with his performance being described as ‘poor’ by Football.London.
Fans have taken to Twitter to share their reactions to the news that the 23-year-old is just the latest member of their squad to have picked up an injury whilst on international duty – joining Giovani Lo Celso on the treatment table – and have given some responses towards Sanchez.
Here are just some of their reactions…
