Tottenham Hotspur: Fans slam Adam Lallana’s transfer update

Tottenham Hotspur are firmly in the race to sign Liverpool star Adam Lallana as a free agent in the summer, according to The Daily Mirror via @RickSpur

Lallana’s current contract with Liverpool is set to expire in June, although it appears he will sign an extension to keep him in Merseyside until the end of the season in order to collect a Premier League winner’s medal, as Jurgen Klopp’s men are almost guaranteed to lift the title for the first time in 30 years.

Although he could stay for another season, it is more likely he will look for an exit from Anfield as he goes in search of regular first team football.

Spurs face stiff competition from his old boss Brendan Rodgers, who is keen to reunite with the former Southampton ace at Leicester City, and London rivals Arsenal and West Ham United have both registered their interest.

Whether or not Daniel Levy will splash the cash remains to be seen, as Lallana has struggled for game time this season.

Admittedly, this is possibly due to no fault of his own, as Liverpool have stormed to the top of the Premier League table, and the veteran has had to compete with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Gini Wijnaldum.

However, it is worth pointing out his extensive list of injuries over the years. Indeed, his time with the Reds has been plagued by constant setbacks, as he was out for the majority of last season with multiple spells on the sidelines.

Furthermore, the 32-year-old has registered only 1 goal and 1 assist in 15 appearances in the Premier League this campaign, taking just 0.3 shots per game, and receiving a low statistical rating of 6.34 per WhoScored.

In comparison, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso have earned higher ratings this season. Therefore, it is unlikely Mourinho would be able to guarantee him a spot in the starting lineup in the future and, given his age, this might be a risk not worth taking.

Understandably given everything mentioned above, loads of Spurs fans slammed Lallana’s transfer update, with one fan branding him as “too injury prone,” and another adding he would be a “total waste of space” in the squad.
