Tottenham Hotspur boosted their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season after securing a dramatic 3-2 victory against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Son Heung-min scored a match-winning brace to seal three points for Jose Mourinho’s side, who now sit in fifth place which could be enough to reach Europe’s elite competition after Manchester City were banned by UEFA on Friday (BBC Sport).
Whilst the likes of Son and new signing Steven Bergwijn caught the eye with strong performances, one player who has come in for a bit of flak on social media is England international Dele Alli.
The 23-year-old certainly endured a difficult afternoon at Villa Park, particularly in front of goal. Indeed, he missed a total of four big chances in the game and failed to score in the 83 minutes he was on the pitch, whilst he also completed just 50% of his attempted dribbles and was dribbled past on a couple of occasions too (SofaScore).

His display has been heavily criticised by many Tottenham fans on Twitter, particularly due to the number of chances he wasted. Here is what some had to say after the game…
You have to wonder if he’ll make it into our first eleven next season, he’s a shadow of the the great young player from 3 seasons ago😕
