Tottenham Hotspur: Harry Winks problem confirmed by Jose Mourinho

Speaking in a press conference, manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed a new injury blow for Spurs in the form of a ‘little problem‘ for Harry Winks upon his return from international duty.

Winks, who has recently opened up over his ‘difficult’ situation at Spurs, now faces potentially missing the Man City encounter after Mourinho confirmed his fitness trouble upon returning from England duty.

Winks injury

The ‘amazing‘ 24-year-old, who has found game time difficult to come by ahead of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Moussa Sissoko, may be unavailable for the City clash as things stand – with the boss confirming he has a ‘problem’.

This comes as a potential late blow for Mourinho as he could fall short of one option ahead of City, but the boss also confirmed that Steven Bergwijn is back after fitness issues prompted him to return home early from international duty.

Erik Lamela is still recovering from injury, however, and looks set to miss the clash with Pep Guardiola’s side tomorrow afternoon – meanwhile Matt Doherty has been in contact with coronavirus and is therefore unavailable for the meeting.

Transfer Tavern take

Upon the international return, Mourinho will be hoping for three points at home to stern challengers, especially considering he is eyeing Tottenham’s first piece of silverware since 2008.

Time will tell whether he does make the mark, but against City, a huge test looms – with Spurs looking to keep their momentum following a long fortnight of no Premier League action.
