Tottenham Hotspur: Ibrahim Sangare could be bargain signing for Spurs

According to an exclusive report by French news outlet Foot Mercato, the price tag for colossal Toulouse midfielder Ibrahim Sangare has dropped to just £7.1 million – gifting Spurs a real chance to land their target who has been likened to Yaya Toure in the past.

Sangare, who started 25 matches for the Ligue 1 outfit last season, has proven to be a gargantuan figure in the middle of the park – literally and figuratively – standing at a lofty 6ft 3 whilst having made 86 appearances overall for the club at just 22-years-old.

Now, in a potentially favourable turn of events from chairman Daniel Levy’s perspective, Sangare’s price tag has reportedly been slashed to a meagre £7.1m – arguably a bargain fee considering the youngster’s potential.

Speaking to the Last Word on Spurs podcast, reliable Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano detailed that the club would be mainly prioritising a striker, centre-back and winger – but Sangare’s significant price drop may be too enticing to ignore.

Despite securing the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as cover for the back four, Sangare could add another dimension of tough-tackling prowess – with his stats indicating he has the potential to replicate a prime Moussa Dembele.

According to WhoScored, the Ivorian has averaged a head-turning 3.5 tackles per 90, nearly as many as the fan-favourite Belgian managed in his best season at White Hart Lane (3.6).

In terms of interceptions, Sangare is also close on that front, averaging 1.6 every match in a similar mould to Dembele.

Even though defensive midfield is already shored up, the starlet’s sky high potential must be noticed by Levy.
