Speaking at a press conference before Tottenham’s Europa League third-round qualifying clash away to Shkendija, manager Jose Mourinho has all but confirmed that midfielder Dele Alli will stay amid rumours he is eyeing a transfer out of north London – with Ligue 1 giants Paris-Saint Germain recently linked.
Alli, who has been largely tipped to leave Spurs in order to balance the books, especially after Tottenham completed the sensational double signing of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon, now looks far more likely to remain after Mourinho’s pledge.

The Portuguese boss, speaking at a press conference before Spurs’ European tie, attempted to put all rumours of a move away to bed whilst also confirming that Alli has been named in the squad.
“[Yes] I see him staying,” explained Mourinho, via the Daily Express.
“There is a tendency now that when a player performs or doesn’t perform to give responsibilities to coach because they gave him the right stick or didn’t.
“I always said that Dele will have a chance. He’s coming.
“He’ll have a chance to perform and it’s important that he does. It’s important that every player does.”
As a result, Tottenham have been boosted by the news that Alli is most likely not to leave Tottenham, with the club seemingly bereft of creative attacking midfielders as it is.
Since ex-star Christian Eriksen put pen-to-paper on a switch to Inter Milan in January, the Lilywhites have arguably failed to fill his void, the departure of another attacker through the middle arguably wouldn’t have been ideal.

On the financial side, given Alli’s market value currently hovers around the £57.6 million mark, his sale would have recuperated a large amount of the funds spent on a plethora of summer signings.
Not to mention, his £100,000-per-week wages would have been slashed from Tottenham’s salary bill.
However, his potential influence on the pitch and the fact he helps to fill Spurs’ homegrown quota means it is debatably best to keep hold of the player for now – and Mourinho providing a boost over the ‘amazing‘ ace could be even more great news after an eventful last week.
