Tottenham Hotspur: Juan Foyth is set to leave Spurs and join Leeds United on loan

Tottenham defender Juan Foyth could be on his way out the door sooner than expected, as the South American media are reporting he will join Leeds United on loan.

According to Clarin, Foyth is reportedly ready to move to Elland Road on loan for the entirety of the 2020/21 season.

This follows a report from El Dia last week, as the outlet claimed he is ‘practically finished’ at Spurs and Marcelo Bielsa is interested in signing him.

Last month, Football Insider revealed Leeds are keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old, and it seems they have now stepped up their efforts to sign the youngster in the summer.

After arriving at White Hart Lane from Club Estudiantes de La Plata back in 2017, Foyth was widely regarded as a prodigy of former boss Mauricio Pochettino, but he has fallen out of favour with Pochettino’s successor.

The Argentine has shockingly only played in one Premier League game all season, as he finds himself below his teammates Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order. Moreover, he has only made three appearances under Jose Mourinho so far.

Needless to say, despite his young age, the 22-year-old is an experienced professional, as he has featured in 32 games for the Lilywhites overall, scoring his first goal for the club in a game against Crystal Palace in 2018.

Although Foyth has struggled for consistency this season, his obvious quality cannot be ignored, as he impressed Mourinho with his performance in the 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.

While the Portuguese has reportedly grown tired of his silly mistakes, a move to Yorkshire could be beneficial for all parties involved.

Indeed, it is worth remembering Bielsa has a proven track record of developing talent, as he arguably transformed the Peacocks by giving young players a chance. Indeed, he has taken Kalvin Phillips’ game to a new level.

If the Argentina international does end up moving to Elland Road as the recent reports suggest, Spurs stand to gain the most from the transfer in the future if his compatriot can unlock the bags of untapped potential he clearly possess.
