Spurs fans will be wondering how they didn’t manage to win all three points against Watford on Saturday. They were millimetres from snatching victory after Watford debutant Ignacio Pussetto’s goal-line clearance, but at least supporters had the positive of Gedson Fernandes’ debut to focus on.
The Portuguese playmaker only played the last 10 minutes of the game (per WhoScored) , but Squawka pointed out that he looked “lively” when he came on. He was signed from Benfica on loan for £4m just a few days ago, and this is his first move as a player, after coming through the Benfica youth system to make his debut for the first team last season.
The club posted a few photos which showed Gedson playing his first minutes for the club, and the reaction from plenty of fans was positive. Aside from the calls to sign a striker, the replies were filled with compliments about the short time the 21-year-old spent on the pitch, so it’s clear they were impressed by what they saw.
