Speaking to Football Insider, former Premier League manager Alex McLeish has tipped Tottenham to lose Danny Rose on a free transfer after a big development emerged recently over his mutual contract termination, with the Scotsman saying 'he'll be leaving'.

Rose, who has been omitted by Jose Mourinho from both his Premier League and Europa League squads for the season, now faces a lengthy spell of inactivity until at least January.

Rose finished at Spurs

However, as per Football Insider, talks have been reported over mutually terminating his contract, allowing Tottenham to offload the Englishman whilst also losing him for nothing.

Ideally, chairman Daniel Levy would want to make a profit from Rose's desire to leave, but given his failure to secure a move away in the summer, news has emerged that both parties could simply part ways for free.

Reacting to the development, McLeish has tipped Spurs to do exactly that, with the defender's future looking bleak.

“It looks it, he looks finished, yeah, there’s no doubt about that," explained the ex-Aston Villa boss to Football Insider.

“Danny was having issues over the last year, easily the last 12 months, that he’s been a bit rattled about his future with Tottenham. Back then it was is he going to go for a fee, will he wait and go free?

“I think Spurs were getting a bit miffed they weren’t going to be able to get any money for him. The way that it’s landed now it looks as though he’ll be leaving without Spurs getting a big fee.

“There’s been issues there for about a year and a half, Danny and Spurs just haven’t been seeing eye to eye.”

Transfer Tavern take

The postponed Euro 2020 is approaching next summer, too, and Rose will want to work his way back into Gareth Southgate's international plans.

Amassing 29 caps for England, the 'unbelievable' 30-year-old still has time to secure one last big move before edging any further into the twilight stage of his career - but the clock is steadily ticking.
