Writing on Twitter, reliable Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has shared ‘positive news‘ surrounding defender Sergio Reguilon – with manager Jose Mourinho stating before the loss to Man City that he could play in the Europa League next week.
Reguilon has been out of contention for Spurs in recent matches with a muscle injury, but Gold has relayed Mourinho’s comments on social media that the Spaniard could play for Tottenham in the Europa League next week.
Jose Mourinho’s ‘positive news’ for Tottenham
Sharing his insight from a press conference, Mourinho explained that Reguilon had ‘no chance‘ of featuring against City, but there is a real possibility that he can make his return imminently against Wolfsberger on Thursday.
“Serge Aurier, maybe he can play, I don’t know. We still have one more training session to see. Sergio Reguilon, no chance. Gio Lo Celso, no chance,” Mourinho explained (Tottenham Hotspur official)
“I would say Reguilon has a chance to play Europa League next week.”
Transfer Tavern take
Arguably one of Spurs’ best signings of the summer, Reguilon’s return to action could come as a big boost for Mourinho – who candidly explained after the Man City defeat that he is one of the players they’re truly missing (football.london).
Given how integral he could be from now until the end of the campaign, it is definitely ‘positive news‘ that he could return next week as Gold claims, but only time will tell whether Reguilon can start the Europa League encounter.
