Tottenham Hotspur: Jose Mourinho keeping watchful eye on Spurs youngster Ryan Sessegnon - Tottenham Hotspur News

Speaking to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur youngster and Hoffenheim loanee Ryan Sessegnon has confirmed that manager Jose Mourinho is still monitoring his progression in the Bundesliga – with the Portuguese sending him motivational messages after matches.

Sessegnon, who was barely-seen for the Lilywhites last season despite his £25 million signing from Fulham in the summer of 2019, started just four Premier League games in total – with the likes of Ben Davies seemingly preferred by Mourinho.

He has since become somewhat of a forgotten talent in north London due to his loan move to a side who are not exactly part of Germany’s elite, as well as the fact that youngsters still with the club, like Harvey White and Dane Scarlett, have been impressing.

Can you name these 10 former Spurs stars? Let's get started! Who is this?

Sessegnon breakdown

The Englishman would have found an even larger struggle for game time had he stayed with Spurs this season, especially considering the signing of Sergio Reguilon in the summer.

As a result, chairman Daniel Levy and co saw fit to send the ‘phenomenon‘ out on loan to Hoffenheim for much-needed experience – with Alasdair Gold claiming the intention is to have him and Reguilon challenge for the left-back slot in future seasons.

Since his loan move was confirmed, the 20-year-old has managed to impress in Germany – with Sessegnon now confirming in an interview with Sky that Mourinho has one eye on his exploits.

The Lilywhites appear to have an optimism surrounding future stars as fellow youngster White receives a new contract and Scarlett continues to impress.

Transfer Tavern take

Now, after this update, it appears Mourinho hasn’t forgotten about his loanee left-back – and if he continues to shine for Hoffenheim, the aforementioned starlets could be joined by Sessegnon as serious nominees for first team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

Described as a Spurs asset who simply ‘needs to play’, the ex-Fulham ace looks to be making the most of his opportunities, with the Portuguese gaffer sending him motivational messages whilst he continues to impress for Hoffenheim.

After this update, it’s safe to say Tottenham could have a plethora of young stars to choose from in the coming seasons.
