Dropping a behind the scenes claim, pundit Kevin Campbell, speaking to Football Insider, says Gareth Bale ‘will be frustrated’ after missing out on starting big matches for Spurs this season – but he will have ‘received assurances’ from manager Jose Mourinho.
Bale, who signed for Tottenham over the summer in a headline-grabbing deal, becoming part of the famous ‘super seven’ brought in through an illustrious window by chairman Daniel Levy, has been ‘overlooked’ on the big occasions.
The Welshman started Spurs’ 2-0 win over Royal Antwerp in the Europa League, a result which allowed them to top Group J heading into the round of 32, but was unused in both the north London derby and 0-0 draw away to Chelsea recently.

These Mourinho calls, according to Campbell, will have left Bale ‘frustrated’ behind the scenes – but the marquee summer loan signing will have also been reassured by the Tottenham gaffer over his playing time.
“Gareth Bale will be slightly frustrated to be overlooked for these big games but we are still early on in the season,” explained Campbell to Football Insider.
“There is a lot of games still to play and they will come thick and fast over the Christmas period.
“Bale will be frustrated but he will have received assurances off Jose Mourinho. He will get game time this season.”
Transfer Tavern take
Whilst the 31-year-old is yet to feature on the big occasion, with just one Premier League start away to West Brom under his belt so far, this is most likely down to fitness concerns.
As a large amount of fixtures loom for Spurs throughout December, it’s safe to say Lilywhites could see plenty of Bale in the next few weeks.
