Speaking to the press, via Tottenham Hotspur's official website, manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed a blow in the injury recovery of defender Ryan Sessegnon.

The Lowdown: Sessegnon out...

The 21-year-old was one of many Spurs players to return from that torrid September international break with a knock, withdrawing from the England Under-21's squad with a knock.

Over his latest setback, Sessegnon has missed Tottenham's last nine games in all competitions, and judging by Nuno's latest update, it appears he has been dealt another blow.

The Latest: Nuno confirms injury blow for Sessegnon...

Tottenham's head coach, delivering the latest team news ahead of their clash with Vitesse tonight in the Europa Conference League, has confirmed that the young defender will now be out 'for a while'.

When asked on the conditions of both Sessegnon and fellow defender Matt Doherty, Nuno explained (via tottenhamhotspur.com):

"Unfortunately, they cannot join the group yet, but it’s a matter of time before we have good news.

“Like I’ve said, we’re going to need all the players. Unfortunately, Matt was injured on international duty, Sess, he’s out for a while, it’s going to take longer, but I’m positive that Matt can join us next week.”

The Verdict: No luck for Sessegnon...

News of Sessegnon's recovery taking longer undoubtedly comes a blow for the player personally, especially given his career at Spurs hasn't exactly taken off since his move from Fulham.

The homegrown ace certainly turned heads at Craven Cottage and even impressed on loan at Hoffenheim last season, highlighting his potential and real quality.

Pundit Noel Whelan lauded Sessegnon as an 'outstanding player' and a possible '£50million player in the making' last year (Football Insider) and perhaps all he needs is a run in the side to display his capabilities.

Nuno is apparently a big fan of the player according to Alasdair Gold and we believe Sessegnon could still shine at Spurs upon his eventual return.
