Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Noel Whelan has tipped star midfielder Dele Alli to leave Tottenham after manager Jose Mourinho’s big call to leave the midfielder out in the cold.
The manager had previously claimed he is ‘not responsible‘ over whether the player departs north London, and Alli’s last showing came in the 1-0 loss to Royal Antwerp in the Europa League. He is slowly losing his place in the squad following the emergence of Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele in an attacking midfield role.

Alli could leave
Indeed, the Spurs boss appears to prefer one of those two options playing just behind star striker Harry Kane, with Alli now facing a battle to work his way back into Mourinho’s plans.
Now, Whelan has suggested that ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino could launch a raid for Alli once he becomes appointed in his next job – going on to claim ‘something is not right’.
“I think Pochettino would possibly look to sign Dele Alli,” he told Football Insider. “He is a decent player but he should not be compared to Maradona – he is not.
“Maybe his time at Tottenham is coming to an end and he might need a change, a change of manager.
“Something is not right there. The managers and the players are not getting the best out of one another. A fantastic player but we have not seen it for 18 months.”
Transfer Tavern take
Described as a ‘monster‘ when he was rising to stardom, the 6 foot 2 Alli could indeed be on his way out – especially with Euro 2021 around the corner.
Whether or not it is Pochettino who decides to launch a January raid remains to be seen, but he could in fact be in danger of leaving.
