Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Kevin Phillips has tipped Spurs defender Ryan Sessegnon to be offloaded on a season-long 2020/2021 loan deal after the club acquired Sergio Reguilon in a £28 million swoop from Real Madrid – with the ex-Premier League striker going on to claim he ‘needs to go’ and gain more playing time.
Sessegnon, who arrived at Tottenham last summer from Fulham in a deal worth £25 million, has found life difficult in his first season – making a handful of Premier League appearances despite an impressive start.
Indeed, the Englishman netted a goal against Bayern Munich on his first full outing in the Champions League last year, but boss Jose Mourinho has rarely called upon the youngster since then.

Now, with Reguilon putting pen to paper on a move, opportunities could be limited – and reliable correspondent Alasdair Gold has since confirmed that Spurs are likely to listen to any offers concerning a temporary move.
Described as ‘unbelievable‘ by Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, Sessegnon certainly has bags of potential for future seasons, and the club are said to view him as an asset over the next few years who can compete for the left-back spot.
As a result, pundit Phillips has now tipped Spurs to let Sessegnon out on loan in a bid to realise his sky high ceiling, imploring chairman Daniel Levy to take action and give him some much-needed playing time.
“It was a great move for him but he would have been better off staying at Fulham for another season or two and play regular football. But when Tottenham come knocking for you it is hard to turn down. He needs to go and play football now,” explained the ex-Sunderland forward to Football Insider.
“There is so much competition now with Ben Davies and Reguilon.
“I’ve heard good things about Reguilon, who was voted the best left-back in La Liga last year. I am really excited to watch him play this season.”

Whether or not a club will come knocking over the 20-year-old remains to be seen, but it could be exactly what he needs.
