Spurs fans have reacted to reports that summer transfer target Giovani Lo Celso’s arrival at the north London side could depend on Christian Eriksen’s future (Evening Standard).
Tottenham have not yet reached Real Betis’ valuation of €75million for the Argentine and it is now thought they may be relying on the funds from the possible sale of their Danish playmaker.
If the Lilywhites were to acquire the 23-year-old for the fee the Spanish side are demanding then it would be a club record fee which dwarfs the previous record set earlier on in the window through the purchase of Tanguy Ndombele for €60m.
Lo Celso contributed 16 goals and six assists in 45 appearances for Betis last season in a campaign which was enough to peak the interest of Mauricio Pochettino and those at Spurs.
Meanwhile, Eriksen spoke shortly after the conclusion of the season on his future and was quoted as saying Real Madrid would be a ‘step-up’, while city rivals Atletico have also said to potentially be in for him.
Spurs have flexed their muscles in the transfer window through the signings of Ndombele and youngster Jack Clarke from Leeds following an 18 month spell without a single addition to the squad since the purchase of Lucas Moura in January 2018.
And some fans of the club, who have not had any transfer business to comment on for a year and a half, have weighed in on the Lo Celso-Eriksen dilemma:

Keep Eriksen, sign him up, buу Lo Celso, win the league

Lo Celso definitely means Eriksen is off.
Do feel we need a bit more depth/youngster on the bench.

should not depend on any departure we spent two windows without signing..didn’t we save a little more than 75m?

Thing is…we bid for him earlier in the window which makes me think this isn’t dependant on Eriksen going. Lots of peripheral players on their way out this summer I think

It doesn’t it’s dragging because Betis value him so high and Levy wants a good deal.

We don’t need to sell Eriksen. Unless he is adamant on not signing a contract , financially we can buy without the money from his sale.
Ceballos and Lo Celso should be in addition to him , to add some actual depth not instead of him…— 40winks__ (@SpursTransfer10) July 8, 2019
