Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs fans sceptical over Donny van de Beek transfer update

Loads of Tottenham Hotspur supporters are doubtful Daniel Levy remains interested in Donny van de Beek, despite a report from football.london.

Football correspondent Alasdair Gold has suggested Spurs are keen on the young Ajax midfielder and have been in dialogue with the Dutch club over the course of the season so far.

The 22-year-old has made 23 appearances in the Eredivisie for Erik ten Hag’s side, scoring 8 goals, producing 5 assists, taking 1.9 shots per game, averaging 1.8 key passes, and completing at least 1 dribble on average in the Netherlands’ top flight (data provided by WhoScored).

Van de Beek’s market value is rated at £39.6m via Transfermarkt.

Understandably, many fans remain unconvinced, with one commenting that making enquiries is “classic Levy,” and another saying there is “no chance” he joins before the transfer window closes ahead of the 20/21 season. However, one supporter added that if the update did turn out to be true, the Dutchman would make a “great direct replacement for Eriksen.”

After months of transfer speculation, Danish international Christian Eriksen finally left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Serie A giants Inter Milan in January for a reported fee worth £18m, and it remains to be seen if the board will sign a suitable successor in the summer. However if they did get Van de Beek, he would certainly be just that.
