Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs fans wish Trippier well after transfer to Atletico Madrid

Some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to praise Kieran Trippier for his time at the club and wish him good luck for the future following his move to Atletico Madrid.

The 28-year-old made the £20million move after four years at Tottenham where he made 114 appearances, contributing two goals and 24 assists.

The north London club have made a hefty profit on the England international given they purchased him for just £3.5m from Burnley back in 2015.

Meanwhile, the former Barnsley right-back will be looking to make a fresh start in Diego Simeone’s side after he came under some criticism for his performances throughout last season.

“He is not a good enough defender,” Graeme Souness said on Sky Sports (via talkSPORT) back in April when speaking about Trippier’s display in a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

And Trippier may not be the only defender leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s side this summer as both Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose have been linked with moves away.

Spurs have already done a great deal of transfer business as they have signed both Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.

So, there has been a lot for those affiliated with the team to get used to but several fans of the club are praising the transfer of Trippier and have come out with a great deal of positivity towards him.
