Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs want to sell Danny Rose and replace him with Dennis Cirkin instead

Tottenham defender Danny Rose wants to stay at Spurs for the final year of his contract and play in front of the club’s fans for the last time.

However, the 30-year-old left-back is not a part of Jose Mourinho’s plans for the future and is considered surplus to requirements in north London. According to The Guardian, Spurs want to sell the £14.4m-valued defender to raise funds for new signings in the summer.

Rose, who is best friends with former Arsenal ace Danny Welbeck, spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United.

The Lilywhites tried to offload the England international last year, as the veteran was left out of a pre-season tour of Asia to try and find a new club, but to no avail, and he admitted he wants to run down the rest of his contract.

Ben Davies has established himself as Mourinho’s first choice in his absence and the Spurs manager intends to use Dennis Cirkin as injury cover. Summer signing Ryan Sessegnon was dropped in favour of the 18-year-old for the game at home to Everton, as football.london correspondent Alasdair Gold revealed the Portuguese admires the academy graduate.

Daniel Levy valued the Englishman at £50m several years ago, although he has suffered quite a dramatic fall from grace ever since. The chairman is under no illusion that his market value has stayed the same and is willing to sell him for £5m as he is not part of the club’s long-term vision.

At this stage in his career, his time in north London is all but over, and anything would be better than nothing. Rose showed he is still a top-class player during his loan spell at St James’ Park, as he played 11 games in the Premier League, averaging 1.9 tackles and 1 clearance per game (via WhoScored).

He will likely be a sought-after asset in the summer, as he would certainly be a cheaper option than Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

Tottenham fans, should Daniel Levy sell Rose in the summer? Let us know in the comments below!
