Former Premier League footballer Danny Mills believes that Tottenham Hotspur will have Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell on their transfer wish list, claiming that the 21-year-old would be a ‘very, very good signing’.

Cantwell has six goals to his name for the Canaries this season, which include strikes against big guns such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Speaking to Football Insider, Mills suggested that he could be the latest addition to the Spurs midfield, suggesting that he would arrive at Tottenham in the same mould as Dele Alli, who broke through almost instantly into the first team following his switch from MK Dons back in 2015.
Offering his opinion on Cantwell’s potential, Mills said: “He is one for the future.
“Bit like Jack Clarke, bit like Dele Alli when they took him and loaned him back, that’s the sort of player they’ll be looking at.
“That’s the sort of idea that they will have, yes it would be a very, very good signing but they have to wait and see.”
Given how much Cantwell has shone for a team struggling in the Premier League – with the current campaign his first at the top level in which he has directly contributed to eight goals in total – there is certainly a fair amount of promise regarding the youngster’s career.
According to Football Insider, Mills agrees that Tottenham’s chances of landing the midfielder could be enhanced if the Canaries are relegated – and with Daniel Farke’s side currently rooted to the foot of the table, that wouldn’t be a major surprise.
Therefore, Tottenham could, in theory, be looking at a cut-price deal if they were interested. Transfermarkt rates the Norwich talent at £13.5m – a valuation which could yet decrease should they go down in the coming months.
Though whether Spurs – or any other team – attempt to prise Cantwell away from East Anglia either in January or the off-season, it seems as though they would be getting an exciting talent given how well he has taken to top-flight football.
