According to an update courtesy of the Athletic journalist David Ornstein, uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, Spurs ‘have had interest‘ in club record signing Tanguy Ndombele following reports of unrest – but the north Londoners and chairman Daniel Levy are determined to keep the player.
Ndombele, who signed for a transfer record-breaking £63 million from Lyon last summer, has been unable to play his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans so far.

After project restart, the 23-year-old barely featured over the remainder of 2019/2020, starting just 12 Premier League matches beforehand.
Reports from France also claimed that there was a fall-out between Ndombele and Mourinho, with the player wanting to leave, but chairman Levy and the board are determined to keep hold of him – at least according to Ornstein.
There has been ‘interest’ in the £200,000-per-week ace, however, with clubs allegedly contemplating a swoop, and Ndombele may have to work hard if he is to have a future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A statement of intent by the club, Levy rarely forks out such huge sums on transfers, and the signing of Ndombele could still prove to be a coup if the player realises his potential.
Even though Mourinho has opted for the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso in midfield recently, the Portuguese described Ndombele as ‘absolutely phenomenal’ after his performance in a 2-2 draw at Norwich last season.

As well as this, the Frenchman has completed more dribbles than the likes of Erik Lamela and Dele Alli when he has featured, potentially highlighting his class when given the opportunity (WhoScored).
Whether or not he becomes a signing to remember is yet to be seen, but Ndombele may need more time if he is to justify such a huge price tag.
