Tottenham Hotspur: Valencia contact Spurs over signing defender Juan Foyth, Leeds and Villarreal also interested

According to a report by Spanish news outlet Cadena SER, Valencia and Spurs are in contact over a potential negotiation surrounding Juan Foyth going out on loan this summer with Leeds United and Villarreal also interested – and both teams already know the ‘economic conditions’ needed to make the move happen.

Foyth, who joined Tottenham back in the summer of 2017 in a reported £8 million deal from Estudiantes, was tipped as a South American rising star – and ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino labelling the player as ‘quality‘ draws even more attention to his potential.

Now, however, new manager Jose Mourinho could be willing to offload the 6ft 2 colossus as three clubs have reportedly come knocking – with La Liga giants Valencia now in contact over a would-be temporary deal.

The 22-year-old ticks many boxes for the club, especially considering his versatility as both a centre-back and right-back, and the fact he has a Spanish passport also makes him a viable option.

The ball now rests in Tottenham’s court over how to sanction this move, with Cadena SER reporting that Valencia are only looking for a loan deal – if Spurs opt to only allow a permanent transfer away, the move will then become ‘impossible’.

Having made a handful of appearances last season, the signing of Matt Doherty and Spurs’ alleged hunt for a centre-back could spell danger for Foyth’s chances of becoming part of Mourinho’s plans.

Valencia intend to convince the youngster he will get playing time, and a move could be his best chance of featuring regularly over 2020/2021.

Spurs fans, should Juan Foyth be allowed out on loan or a permanent deal? Join the discussion by commenting below…
