Tottenham Hotspur: Wilfried Zaha looks unlikely to leave Crystal Palace on deadline day

Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha looks on at Tottenham Hotspur

Speaking to the press, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has issued the club’s deadline day stance surrounding winger and star man Wilfried Zaha – with Daniel Levy now suffering a blow in the prospective race for his alleged two-year target.

Indeed, as per this confirmation, Hodgson has relayed his side’s stance over selling Zaha – and the Eagles are apparently not interested in any late deadline day bids.

Spurs, who have been reportedly enquiring over a potential Zaha deal for the past 24 months, last being tipped to make an official move in January, now look unlikely to add him to their roster this window after the Palace manager’s latest declaration.

Ex-club owner Simon Jordan, recently talking to talkSPORT, urged the £130,000-per-week ace to sign for Spurs – citing the fact he ‘wants to go’ and could be in Levy’s price category due to the financial impact of a global pandemic.

In a deal that seemingly looked more possible than ever before, especially considering Tottenham’s past hunt for a winger over this transfer window, it now appears as if the Lilywhites will have to wait longer before weighing up another swoop for the Ivorian.

Described as ‘phenomenal‘ and ‘unique‘ by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, it’s no secret that Zaha could be one of the Premier League’s most threatening wingers.

As a result, the Eagles are reluctant to let him go without first receiving a hefty fee, but it now looks like they will not entertain any offers until January.

Regardless, Spurs are in a good position to wait on signing Zaha, especially considering the club have already added attacking stars Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale to their ranks this summer.

Whether or not Levy will return with interest in three months time remains to be seen, but he has been issued a pretty resounding deadline day stance.
