According to a report by news outlet noticias de Gipuzkoa, Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose is currently attracting Barcelona’s interest as the eight-month-long Tottenham transfer target is pushed towards the exit door – with chairman Daniel Levy and co apparently unwilling to pay his valuation.
Indeed, according to this report, the La Liga giants could now be seen as favourites to land the 6ft 3 attacking ace who has been on Spurs’ radar since January – with a past update from Goal claiming that Jose wants to sign for Tottenham as Harry Kane’s back-up.

Now, with Barca reportedly ready to swoop in, manager Jose Mourinho could be in danger of missing out on a viable alternative centre-forward option to star striker Kane – albeit a potentially expensive one.
Noticias de Gipuzkoa report that the forward could leave Sociedad for no less than £27.5 million – which is generous considering in and around that figure is over 50 per cent off his original £64.4m contracted release clause.
This heavy discount, coupled with the fact he has bagged a consistent 22 La Liga goals in two seasons, could mean he is worth a punt as manager Mourinho yearns for another striking option.

Described as ‘powerful‘ by ESPN scouting writer Matthew Stanger, the towering Brazilian could also be a viable option for Levy and co given the physical nature of England’s top flight.
However, with Barcelona now contemplating a swoop, Tottenham may have to decide quickly over their next move – but his reported eagerness to join Spurs and his evident quality could be a reason to reignite interest.
