There is more than a little bit of drama here today at the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed by The Sun that Gareth Bale will cost at least £100 million for clubs looking to prize him away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Tottenham had been struggling of late until the Welshman’s return which coincided with a morale boosting victory over Manchester City. The result which kept them well in with a shout of finishing in the top four was crucial and Bale’s goal in the 3-1 victory only enhanced his transfer value.
Now in order to attempt to prevent those admirers – including Real Madrid and Inter Milan – from making advances for the former Southampton man, Daniel Levy has slapped an incredible £100 million price tag on the players head and will not let the Welshman leave for anything less.
There is no doubting that Bale is a fantastic player but one worth £100 million? Punters in the tavern today seem doubtful that he is actually worth such a huge amount of money.
