Tottenham are tracking Vasco da Gama wonderkid Rayan. The 19-year-old forward has burst onto the scene this season, scoring seven times in the Brasileirao despite his side struggling for consistency. Rayan rose through the youth ranks at Vasco De Gama, before breaking into the first team in 2023 as a 17-year-old.
He has since cemented his spot in the XI, and this season has kicked on as some of Europe’s elite clubs have taken notice. Barcelona, Chelsea, and Liverpool are also reportedly tracking the winger and TeamTalk has now reported that Tottenham have opened talks with the player in an attempt to jump to the front of the queue.
Predominantly a right winger, Rayan is naturally left footed and can play anywhere across the front three. His pace and technique has seen him earn a reputation as one of the world’s most promising youngsters. The teenager is believed to have a release clause of £34.3m in his contract, and Spurs have are keen on lining up a January bid.
Spurs look to pip rivals to Rayan signature
Rayan is nearing a full call up to the Brazil camp, having represented his country at the youth level. A full call up would accelerate his work permit process should Spurs get the deal over the line. Thomas Frank’s men are believed to be actively in the market for a new winger in January.
Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert have come under increased scrutiny from some sections of the Spurs faithful this season, who feel the left side of the attack is an area of concern. Spurs’ right side has been boosted by summer signing Mohammed Kudus who has been a revelation since joining the North London side.
Spurs hope to develop Rayan into a left sided attacker as they search for a long term replacement for Son Heung-min. There is also hope that the player can provide support in the No.9 position, an area Spurs have struggled with since the departure of Harry Kane.
