Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in serious trouble as the Premier League season heads into its decisive stretch.
Sitting 16th in the table with just 12 games remaining, Spurs are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
The club has already made a managerial change, dismissing Thomas Frank in a bid to spark a turnaround. Igor Tudor has been placed in charge until the end of the campaign, but his recent track record does little to inspire confidence that a dramatic revival is on the horizon.
With uncertainty growing both on and off the pitch, attention is now turning to what relegation could mean for the squad — and which players might depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if the worst happens.
Spurs Could Lose Most Key Stars
According to a fresh report from The Athletic’s Elias Burke, Tottenham risk seeing much of their core group dismantled should they drop into the Championship.
Burke claims Spurs’ back line would likely be “picked clean,” naming Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero as players who would attract immediate interest. Kevin Danso and Djed Spence are also expected to draw attention from top-flight clubs and “could find new homes” either permanently or via loan deals.
In midfield, January arrival Conor Gallagher — who had been pursued by Aston Villa before opting for Tottenham — is viewed as another player unlikely to settle for second-tier football. Rodrigo Bentancur may also consider his options if relegation becomes reality.
Further forward, Burke suggests that “it’s difficult to envision Dominic Solanke, Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Xavi Simons or Richarlison spending a season (or more) in England’s second tier during their peak years.”
Not every player would necessarily depart, however. Burke notes that younger talents such as Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Antonin Kinsky could remain, alongside several other emerging prospects.
While Tottenham’s immediate focus will be on securing Premier League survival, the consequences of relegation could be severe. The potential exodus of established stars serves as a stark warning of what is at stake in the final weeks of the season.
Failure to stay up would not only impact the club financially but could also trigger a dramatic squad overhaul at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
