Metro have a claim that has Tottenham Hotspur fans looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They claim that one of the star players at the club will be staying, despite interest from one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Paulinho has been tracked by Real Madrid and as our landlord notes, he has made an impression since arriving in England and has certainly improved since the first time we saw him.
The player himself spoke about his future and noted: “I leave these matters with my manager, but without doubt it is good recognition for any player to be coveted by a club with the history of Real Madrid.”
The 25-year-old was speaking after he enjoyed a trip back to his homeland of Brazil.
“My head, however, is completely focused on returning to play and win at Tottenham.”
He also spoke about the changes to his game since arriving, and noted that certain aspects have had to change and improve.
“Here in the Premier League you need to be very quick mentally. Spaces are shorter and the game is much more tactical and tight,’ he said.
“In England, I have acquired more tactical knowledge and improved the speed of my decision making. Today, I see myself as a more mature and dynamic player.”
