Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are shocked after the London Evening Standard explained how unwanted Spurs forward Emmanuel Adebayor turned down a move to Qatar which would have seen him earn £1 million-a-month.
Many Spurs fans have accused the Togo international of staying at the club just to see out his £100,000-a-week contract but it seems as though money is not the incentive.
The 30-year-old, whose current contract expires at the end of the season reportedly received a few bids from Qatar-based outfits.
It is believed that the astronomical contract offered to him was £130,000-a-week after tax.
So that works out to a gross weekly salary of around £245,000 which is not far off doubling his current deal.
It is seems as though the former Arsenal forward intends to fight for his right to remain in the Premier League while performing in a more competitive environment.
That said, he was lost his place in the Spurs first team to Harry Kane who has proved a revelation for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this term.
