Writing for football.london, reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has detailed three strikers on Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of the looming 2020/2021 Premier League campaign – with Patson Daka, Habib Diallo and Arkadiusz Milik emerging as the ones to watch.
Harry Kane remains Spurs’ only natural centre-forward option and manager Jose Mourinho may need an alternative, especially if the Englishman picks up a knock at any point – made evident by his spell on the sidelines last season.
Last summer, chairman Daniel Levy let go of former target man Fernando Llorente without buying a suitable replacement, prompting the club to try and make amends this window.
Who would you prefer Spurs to sign?
As detailed by Gold just last week, Spurs have been monitoring a number of homegrown talents, including the likes of Callum Wilson, Josh King, Chris Wood and Ollie Watkins.
Now, the Tottenham journalist claims there are also three attackers on the continent catching Levy’s attention – with Milik, Daka and Diallo all reportedly on the radar and currently being considered as options.
Meanwhile, Diallo netted 12 Ligue 1 strikes in 26 appearances and stands at a lofty 6ft 1 – but the most impressive link, arguably, has to be Daka after he scored an impressive 24 goals in just 31 Bundesliga outings for Red Bull Salzburg over 2019/2020.
Bagging eight assists in that time also, Daka’s market value currently stands at just £18 million (Transfermarkt), and if Levy can negotiate a fairly similar fee with the club, he could be the bargain of the window.
Taking all this into account, there are plenty of reasons for Spurs fans to be excited by Gold’s latest update.
