According to an update by reliable Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, talks with Inter Milan have ended over the potential signing of defender Milan Skriniar – with a transfer now looking far more likely next window due to the two clubs’ differing opinions on the player’s valuation.
Will Spurs make another signing?
Yes, get it done Levy
Indeed, the Serie A giants reportedly rate him at around £45 million, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy apparently unwilling to go that high in regards to a transfer fee.
As a result, talks over a potential last minute deal have now reached an untimely conclusion, and Tottenham may have to act fast to sign another defender, given that the window is due to shut at 11pm tonight.
Fabrizio Romano backed up Gold’s latest claim this morning, confirming there has been no agreement, prompting Levy to turn to other targets in an effort to sure up Jose Mourinho’s back line.
Those targets include the likes of John Stones and Chelsea defensive colossus Antonio Rudiger, but the latter man will be hard to snap up before the eleventh hour given the plethora of clubs hot on his tail.
Both Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan are also competing to sign the German on loan, with an option to buy, after he was left out of Frank Lampard’s last five match day squads.
Meanwhile, Stones has pledged to remain at Man City until deemed surplus to requirements – potentially forcing Levy to continue looking elsewhere.
While Spurs keep hitting roadblocks in there search for a new defender, their flurry of star signings secured before deadline day could still leave most Lilywhites satisfied.
Whether or not the club manage to land a seventh summer signing remains to be seen, but Levy will have to work hard as the cut off time draws close.
