Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold says attacker Anthony Georgiou ‘set’ to leave north London

Writing for Football.London, reliable Tottenham Hotspur correspondent and club source Alasdair Gold has dropped a January exit update – with attacker and academy graduate Anthony Georgiou now ‘set’ to finalise a move away to AEL Limassol, with the permanent deal ‘expected’ to be completed this week.
The Cyprus international made his first team debut under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, but a plethora of loan stints at the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Ipswich Town and Levante’s B team have done little to push him into Spurs’ plans.
Georgiou exit imminent
Described by Gold as a player now too seasoned to return to the Lilywhites academy, the correspondent claims a move had to be made in regards to letting him go – especially considering the attacker has not featured for Spurs since his six-minute Champions League cameo back in 2017/18 (WhoScored).
Now, the Football.London journalist explains he is set for a permanent move away with the deal expected to be finalised this week – with the left-winger now allegedly about to trade north London for his native Cyprus with AEL Limassol.
Transfer Tavern take
Spurs may need to offload fringe assets in order to properly compete in the January market, with Jose Mourinho currently overloaded with surplus-to-requirements squad members.
As this first permanent January exit reportedly looms, with only loan stints away completed so far, Daniel Levy and co will still have other work to do with regards to outgoings.
