According to a report by The Daily Mail, new Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has set his sights on yet another Serie A star as news emerges on Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.

The Lowdown: Italian job...

Tottenham's links to some of the Italian top flight's biggest names have shown no sign of slowing down over these last few days since the arrival of Conte at N17.

Calciomercato.it went as far as to say the former Chelsea boss has demanded a €280 million (£237m) transfer war chest to play with as he eyes moves for the likes of Federico Chiesa, Matthijs de Ligt, Stefan de Vrij, Marcelo Brozovic, Alessio Romagnoli and Dusan Vlahovic.

Other sources suggest the Italian will have around £150 million to spend at Spurs as he seeks to rebuild - one way or another it is clear we should expect some movement in the upcoming transfer window.

The Mail, sharing news on yet another player Spurs could target for Conte, have claimed that Barella is now on the radar.

The Latest: Conte eyeing Barella...

As explained by the outlet and journalist Sami Mokbel, the four-time Serie A-winning boss already has a few targets in mind when it comes to bolstering Spurs.

Alongside Vlahovic, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Tottenham over these last few months, a new name has surfaced in Euro 2020 star Barella.

The Italy international is understood to be attracting 'interest' from Conte, coming after the pair worked together to win the league at Inter last season.

The Verdict: Big statement...

Signing Barella to strengthen Tottenham's midfield would be a real statement of intent.

The midfielder, who has been liked to N'Golo Kane by both Jorginho and former Spurs favourite Jurgen Klinsmann, has also been called 'incredible' by Ex-Nerazzurri Striker Nicola Ventola.

Playing a starring role under Roberto Mancini at the Euros, Barella has continued his fine form this season with five assists in 11 Serie A starts already - more than double that of Spurs' top assister domestically, Sergio Reguilon.

It's clear that Spurs may be in dire need of some more midfield quality, especially considering the poor form of Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso, and it's even more clear they couldn't do much better than Barella, a reigning Serie A and Euro 2020 champion.
