Speaking to Football Insider, pundit and ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has tipped outcast Danny Rose to find a Championship club before the domestic window closes tomorrow – going on to claim that he is ‘definitely’ leaving.
Can Danny Rose find a Championship club in time?
Yes, get it done Levy
No, he'll have to wait on the sidelines
Rose, who has been omitted from Jose Mourinho’s Premier League and Europa League squads, now faces life on the fringes in north London until January – unless he can find a new club in under 24 hours.
The England international isn’t fancied by Mourinho at left-back, resulting in the club signing Spanish sensation Sergio Reguilon for £25 million from Real Madrid.
As well as having to contend with Reguilon’s presence, the 30-year-old’s future at Tottenham doesn’t look too bright either with the nurturing of Ryan Sessegnon.
Indeed, according to Alasdair Gold, Spurs see both Sessegnon and the marquee summer signing as Mourinho’s two left-back options in future seasons – leaving Rose surplus to requirements.
Robinson delivers take on Rose
Bearing that in mind, Robinson has suggested that Rose is ‘definitely’ leaving and has gone on to have his say over the situation whilst speaking to Football Insider.
“The writing is on the wall for Danny Rose given that he has not got a squad number this season,” explained the ex-Spurs stalwart.
“I think he will see him move on and I am surprised that Newcastle did not sign him this summer because he did quite well there last season.
“Wherever he goes, he will do well. He is a top player, I like him, I rate him. He just does not fit in Jose’s plans and Jose does not want him around.
“I think he will move before the deadline, whether that be to Middlesborough or wherever it may be. He is definitely one that will be leaving.”
Transfer Tavern take
It will be a huge ask for Rose to complete a move away in just one day, but if he wishes to be in contention to play for England at the rearranged Euros in the summer, the 29-capped star may have to get a deal done.
Holding an impressive CV, especially given his role during Spurs’ 2019 Champions League final run under Mauricio Pochettino, there could be a plethora of second-tier clubs vying to take him on loan.
Whether or not Tottenham manage to negotiate a move away now remains to be seen, but it certainly looks like his career at Spurs is all but over.
