Writing on Twitter, RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi has lifted the lid on an exciting transfer development at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lowdown: Transfer window open...

The summer transfer window is now officially open and Tottenham will be hoping to strengthen sufficiently in time for the 2021/2022 campaign.

Spurs will need to adopt a sell-to-buy policy in order to fund marquee additions, with the club having suffered financially due to the pandemic.

However, that hasn't stopped Spurs from scouring the market for possible signings - with an exciting development emerging courtesy of Bouhafsi.

Indeed, he claims the Lilywhites have now entered advanced discussions with the player over a move to north London this summer.

"Marcus Thuram will leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer," explained Bouhafsi.

"The player is in talks with Tottenham. It is a priority of the club.

"Sources close to the English club explain that the discussions have advanced in recent days."

The Verdict: Quite a claim...

The window has been open for just one day and Tottenham are allegedly already making a significant move with these talks.

Thuram enjoyed a noteworthy 2020/2021 campaign with the German club, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12 others in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The electric 23-year-old also averaged an impressive two shots on goal per match over his league outings, second only on his team to Alassane Plea (WhoScored)

Thuram did reign superior in completed dribbles, though, averaging 1.6 of them over 29 Bundesliga appearances (WhoScored).

As such, news of Spurs' advanced discussions for a player with obvious talent and plenty of years ahead of him comes as pretty exciting.
