According to an update by ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho retain an interest in top summer target Milan Skriniar and could try to bag the Slovakian in January – with the club keeping an eye out for more defensive options.
Skriniar, who was at the centre of heavy interest from Spurs over the most recent transfer window, was on the negotiating table for chairman Daniel Levy until talks broke down in the latter stages.

Skriniar attracts Spurs
Fabrizio Romano claimed there was a huge gap in valuation for the player, and rumours even surfaced that Spurs were open to swapping club record signing Tanguy Ndombele to sweeten a potential deal.
Now, as per ESPN, the 6 foot 2 star is still attracting interest from the Lilywhites and Tottenham could bag him as another signing – even after an historic window in terms of business.
Averaging a 92% pass accuracy for Inter over the 2019/2020 season (WhoScored), Skriniar is a colossus who could entice Mourinho given his composure at the back.
Spurs landed Joe Rodon in the last days of the EFL bonus window as an alternative, but he is seen more as one for the future, with Levy still keen on landing a defensive star who can provide immediate improvement.

Lauded as a would-be ‘massive signing‘ by Kevin Phillips, reliable correspondent Alasdair Gold also claimed that the centre-back is ‘very keen‘ to join Mourinho at Tottenham – evident by the fact he said ‘yes‘ to a move.
Given these supporting factors, it’s debatable that Skriniar would be the perfect addition in north London – especially if the club want to clinch a first piece of silverware since 2008.
