As per Sky Sports, there has been an update on Tottenham Hotspur's links to Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco after big reports emerged earlier today.

The French news outlet even lifted the lid on discussions with his agent, Pini Zahavi, with the Premier League duo also ready to pay his €60 million (£49.8m) release clause.

In an update, Sky Sports have the latest on this development.

The Latest: Sky drop update...

Sharing news on live television (via Football Daily), Sky claim that Spurs did make an enquiry for Carrasco, but the player will be going nowhere this month.

"Some news just coming through to me as we speak from trusted sources," explained their reporter Paul Gilmour.

"Tottenham did indeed make an enquiry for Yannick Carrasco, but Atletico, no interest whatsoever in even entering discussions on him this month.

"Maybe at some point in the future, but certainly this month we're being told Carrasco will be going nowhere."

The Verdict: Blow for Spurs?

The forward would've been a real statement signing for Spurs given his proven quality, having amassed over half a century of caps in a star-studded Belgium team, not to mention his versatility to play across the forward line.

The Lilywhites could do with an additional threat in their forward ranks too, as Son Heung-min has struggled with injuries while Harry Kane has bagged just five times in the top flight this season, a far cry from his usual standards.

However, it may well be one to visit in the summer with Fabio Paratici backed to have an interest in signing the La Liga star for Antonio Conte.
