Tottenham are interested in signing Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer.

While Hugo Lloris is still Jose Mourinho's first-choice 'keeper, recent reports have suggested Spurs are searching for his successor.

According to Le10 Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness via @thespursweb, Tottenham are monitoring Maignan very closely ahead of a possible move in the summer.

Spurs have been keen to sign Maignan for a while now, as they have been linked with him for a number of months, amid interest from Chelsea. Lille are reportedly willing to let him leave if the right offer arrives.

The 24-year-old has been called up to the French senior squad several times, and is yet to make his international debut, as he finds himself behind Lloris in the pecking order.

Sources told the outlet Mourinho admires the Frenchman and have backed him to launch a bid for the £15.7m-valued ace.

Maignan has made 28 appearances in Ligue 1 for Christopher Galtier's side, conceding 1 goal per game, keeping 12 clean sheets, and making 2.1 saves on average (SofaScore).

Meanwhile, his compatriot has arguably struggled for consistency this season, as he has only saved three clean sheets in the Premier League so far. Surprisingly, the 33-year-old has still received a higher SofaScore rating than his younger teammate.

Luis Campos, who was tipped to join Tottenham earlier this year, has already prepared for Maignan's departure as he has brought in Leo Jardim and Luca Chevalier.

Only time will tell if Maignan will be able to hit the same heights as Lloris, but he has made an impressive start so far.

Indeed, he helped Les Dogues reach fourth in Ligue 1, conceding only 27 goals in 28 games, before the coronavirus brought the season to a standstill.

It is likely Lloris will be phased out over the next couple of years, as he is not getting any younger, and his countryman could be the perfect replacement.
