According to a report by ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur lead the race and are in pole position to sign 6 foot 3 goalkeeping colossus Sam Johnstone – with the in form shot stopper now a man in demand ahead of next season.
Indeed, the 28-year-old is apparently emerging as a top target for Spurs with club mainstay Hugo Lloris continuously linked with an exit from north London this summer.
ESPN provide the latest, and they claim that the Lilywhites are not only interested in Johnstone, but are in pole position ahead of both West Ham and Leeds United.
Recently earning the England nod – his first ever international call up – the West Bromwich Albion shot stopper has been one of the few success stories of the Baggies’ relegation-battling campaign.

He has earned plaudits galore, with Kevin Campbell recently explaining how ‘amazing’ he is when speaking to Football Insider amid his links to Spurs.
Johnstone has also attracted praise from Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle, who dubbed him ‘outstanding‘ in a column for the Evening Standard recently.
This report suggests he could even leave for just £10 million this summer due to his contract situation at the Hawthorns, coming as Spurs look for a capable pair of hands to potentially succeed Lloris.
Chairman Daniel Levy will also not be looking to break the bank, either, meaning this deal could tick all the boxes for Tottenham.
