Tottenham: Spurs eye Ezri Konsa

According to The Athletic, Tottenham are set to do battle with Liverpool to sign Aston Villa and England U21 defender Ezri Konsa.
Spurs eye Konsa
According to David Ornstein, both Spurs and Liverpool are “studying him” as an option to bolster their defensive ranks, with the 23-year-old having made 20 appearances for the Villans so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).
The report says Konsa was on the north London side’s radar back in 2019 as they prepared for the potential departure of Toby Alderweireld, only for the Belgian to remain put.
One for the future
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season from the Premier League, Villa have improved dramatically this campaign. They are now up to eighth in the table and are just six points off the top four with two games in hand (Sky Sports).
Their backline has been crucial to their success – they have the second-best defence in the division with Chelsea, having conceded just 24 goals. Konsa has been praised for his performances, with former Spurs man Tim Sherwood calling him “brilliant” back in December (Sky Sports News via One Football).
Would you like to sign Konsa?
Yes

No

Former Brentford defender Konsa is currently valued at £10.8m (Transfermarkt) – while Villa would want a substantial fee for the centre-back, he would probably come cheaper than a number of other players on the market. As Mourinho plans ahead for the new campaign, it remains to be seen whether he makes a concrete move to sign Konsa from the Midlands outfit.
In other news, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on this Tottenham transfer target.
