Metro have Tottenham Hotspur fans looking up cynically here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they report via the Evening Standard that Harry Kane is being scouted by none other than Real Madrid.
Now as our landlord pours another round of pints, he makes the point that Kane has of course recently signed a new deal at the North London club but we are not really convinced it would keep him there should the Spanish giants come calling.
Given Spurs have seen both Gareth Bale and Luka Modric leave for Real Madrid in years gone by, we think their fans could be worried Kane will attract the attention of Florentino Perez and it seems that after Real Madrid stepped up their scouting of the player, that has happened.
As one of our punters notes, we are not even sure that Kane would really deserve a move to Real Madrid given he is literally a one season wonder with the pressure that players are put under in the Spanish capital nothing like in England.
We cannot see the young star coping well with the media attention nor the constant pressure from fans.
As Gareth Bale is finding out, you do not even need to do much wrong to be on the boo list.
