Since becoming Celtic manager back in 2016, Brendan Rodgers has often looked towards the Premier League for promising young players to bring in to improve his squad.
And that was no different during the January transfer window of this year after the Celtic boss turned to Chelsea for Belgian winger Charly Musonda.
With Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro all in the first team, Musonda was unable to break into Antonio Conte’s starting XI, prompting him to join Celtic on loan, much to the delight of the Celtic Park faithful.

Topper of a signing Massive well done to the club for getting Chelsea to send him here for 18 months

And given the technical ability Musonda possesses, it was not surprising to see supporters act the way they did following the 22-year-old’s arrival.
Musonda is an exceptional dribbler, capable of beating defenders with both feet on either flank. With that in mind, his acquisition looked like quite a coup for Celtic, especially considering how highly rated he is at Chelsea.
For all of the talent he has, though, Musonda’s game time at Celtic Park was limited with Rodgers having clearly not been impressed with something about the Belgium U21 international.
Whatever the reason, it was enough to force Musonda back to Chelsea before the end of the 18-month loan agreement, making his transfer to the Bhoys during the second half of the 2017/18 SPL season a complete waste of time.
