Heading into the 2014/15 Premier League season following their promotion from the Championship, Leicester City signed former Inter Milan captain Esteban Cambiasso on a free transfer with manager at the time Nigel Pearson desperate to add some experience to his squad.
Renowned as one of the best defensive midfielders in his prime, unsurprisingly, Cambiasso’s arrival at the King Power was one that came with much excitement.

And the Argentinian did not disappoint as he went on to win Leicester’s Player of the Year award after strong performances throughout the campaign.
For much of it, Leicester struggled with relegation looking nailed on at one point until an amazing run towards the end of the season saw Pearson’s men secure Premier League safety with Cambiasso playing his part to say the least.
The former Inter Milan and Real Madrid man, of course, was not at Leicester for long having decided to leave the King Power for Olympiacos at the end of his one-year contract.
It did not take Leicester much time though, to find a defensive midfield replacement for the 38-year-old with N’Golo Kante arriving from Ligue 1 outfit Caen to help Claudio Ranieri’s side go on to miraculously win the 2015/16 Premier League title.
Nevertheless, Cambiasso still proved to be a coup and shrewd acquisition for Leicester who was pivotal in the club’s top-flight survival.
Losing both Cambiasso and Kante would have come as a huge blow to the Foxes, but the 2016 Premier League champions have since brought in Wilfred Ndidi with the Nigeria international doing an excellent midfield job just as his predecessors did.
